Ngati Kahungunu, Ngai Tahu
Lana is the third generation of weavers in her family. She started to learn weaving from her grandmother Parekura Robinson at a very early age. Aunts, uncles and other whanau members have helped her develop the skills apparent in her miniature piupiu and colourful contemporary harakeke and kiekie cloaks. Much of her learning has been at wananga, frequently held on marae in the Wairoa district, and this is a style of learning that she particularly enjoys. She regularly supplies Te Papa with harakeke roses, and her work is sold in Real Aotearoa stores in Auckland and Christchurch.
